tech.msn.com — Of the 117 million active gamers in the U.S., 56 percent play games online. Sixty-four percent of those online gamers are female, according to results of the survey, released by Nielsen Entertainment on Thursday.

i wouldnt doubt theyre are more g.i.r.l.s out there. that standing for guy in real life. when a guy decides to play an mmo using a female character. if you have to spend days looking at your characters ass, might as well be female

This cannot be correct! They definitely were going off a warped sample of players or only certain games.

maybe they were poling certain games like sims online. i seriously doubt there are more women playing wow then guys

I'm not sure why this is so hard to believe. I think you all are just limiting yourself to thinking of certain games like WOW....there are quite a few other games out there (from Sims online to Zuma to Bookworm) that women like to play. My 48 year old mother is some kinda Bookworm genius and that qualifies her as a online gamer.
