kde-apps.org — Wine nearly perfectly supports running World of Warcraft on Linux, but there are still some Bugs. For example: you can't change any Graphic Settings at the moment. And this is where WoWLinuxTools come in! Development will start in a few Days, the Homepage is nearly Finished and will be hostet on sourceforge.

not being able to change graphics options doesn't exactly qualify as running perfectly in my book.

Sorta reminds me of what centerblack is saying with the anti-hack stuff, it really makes these games that much harder to get working. I'd love to play MapleStory on my Feisty install, but I have to switch to Vista just to play it. I tried with Cedega but I actually got farther with Wine. It's a shame that the people who hack the game don't donate a little of their time and expertise with anti-hack programs to help develop ways to make these games run properly. MS is frustrating because it's hacked like mad and there are tons of script kiddies out there all the time being lame. There's a lot of expertise just going to waste. I think most people just want to cheat.

I, for one give a s**t. the more compatibility linux gets with windows programs, the better off linux is.

Learn a bit about Cedega and how WINE had to change their software license after Transgaming started selling their code, before you sing Cedega's praises.

The title is misleading as it implies WOW is coming to Linux. Not! It's great that some clever users are able to mod or hack the ability of WOW to run on WINE or other forms of voodoo hackery, but until commercial software and game developers begin seriously supporting this OS en masse, Linux remains a novelty on the desktop. The WOW starts...someday, maybe.

The WoWLinuxTools are a great idea. I like to install more stable, tested programs, but I'll be keeping an eye on this. To answer some issues brought up, though:I am new to Linux - installed Ubuntu Edgy on Sunday (the 13th, yes, two days ago) and the SAME day had my WoW up and running and was able to raid. Imagine, a COMPLETE Linux noob having something like WoW playing wonderfully on my computer. And no dual partition either... pure Linux. I was able to change graphical settings too! The only problems? The 2 mouse pointer thing and while I had a good frame rate, I still had choppy graphics. The fix? I opened WoW with -opengl. Now I get DOUBLE the framerate I did in Windows and only one mouse pointer. Downside? Not being able to make graphics adjustments.. but who cares? I already did that when I opened it with WoW.exe instead of WoW.exe -opengl.This app will be a nice convenience. What will be even nicer is if Blizzard ever ports WoW to Linux. We all have our dreams, right?

I get more fps running WoW with wine under ubuntu than under windows on same machine. Was same for NWN. Not tried L2.
