thehill.com — A crumbling economy, more than 2 million constituents who have lost their jobs this year, and congressional demands of CEOs to work for free did not convince lawmakers to freeze their own pay. Instead, they will get a $4,700 pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries.

these a.h. in congress never seem to get it... hundreds of years and we still got a congress that does not care about the people. college graduates making $1500 a month is disgraceful, but what do these Dems/Repubs care? they just vote themselves a raise. we definitely need to make some changes. mark twain said it best: "It is comforting to know that the art of lying shall never die so long as Congress is in session."

Good point. To bad their wasn't some way to prove they are competent to vote. Maybe a test to indicate what their congressman/senator has done that makes them eligible to be a voter.

Initially, congress voted on pay raises during an election year. This proved politically unpopular so congress changed it to an off-election year. This too proved politically unpopular so congress changed it to automatically give raises with a vote against required to stop the raise. This is what these blood-sucking motherf**kers do when people are watching!I want blood! Enough is f**king enough! Chew on these numbers:http://www.thecapitol.net/FAQ/cong_numbers.htmlCongress worked 114 days out of the year so far. That’s an average of $169,300 for less than ½ year’s work. The hourly rate? 169,300 / 881 = $192 dollars/hour. (that’s just (22) 40-hour work weeks all year)Is it any wonder they’ll say and do anything to keep getting elected? Where else can you be an unmitigated failure at your job, work less than half a year, have a staff, have travel and meals paid for and so much more, and still earn $169,300 per year and up?

Yeah, remember the sickening self-congratulatory circle jerk we had to watch on TV after they passed the bailout for Wall Street 90% of us opposed?"We worked really, really hard on this and we were awesome together! We worked in bipartisan fashion and thanks, congratulations and adoration are in order.""I'd just like to say again that we were just fabulous in getting this passed. Goddamn we're good!"

Party doesn't matter - they both vote the same. Democrats voted for the bailout of auto industry, Republicans voted against, then BUSH (a REPUBLICAN) GAVE THEM THE MONEY.It's a shell game, devised to make you and I fight against each other rather than stopping to realize what they are doing.

They are ALL Pigs. Parties are meant to divide US.

I ask myself the question every day. It seems I rather like staying out of prison.

Leave it to the PORK LOVERS to vote in a program that gives them an AUTOMATIC PAY INCREASE. The rest of us, supporting these shi*t heads can't make enough to take care of our needs and they feel they deserve a raise for the crappy job they've been doing. Ba*tards out to be tarred and feathered.
