accuweather.com — Nearly the entire eastern half of the United States is enduring bitterly cold temperatures not experienced since 1985. Even Florida, which has been hovering around freezing levels overnight recently, is also feeling the almost-nationwide chill.

We've had TEN years of cooling not a "single year". Also this "single region" of yours encompasses the entire earth. As for the "political side", that would mean that NO warmer site should be read, since they are all politically driven. I like how you indicate that only "oil industry" money corrupts -- as if the billions paid by governments to reach a particular conclusion would not possibly corrupt "scientists".

Global LOLing

You have to be a real dumb f**k to believe this nonsense about people who might profit from cap and trade. That's gotta be the absolute dumbest f**king conspiracy theory ever. You expect me to believe for one microsecond that somehow people who *might* make money off cap and trade have more power than those who currently run the most profitable companies this planet has ever seen and make billions due to lack of CO2 emission regulations this very second? Hell they made a few million in the time it took me to write this comment. You know how much the cap and traders made in the same time? 0. Are you a f**king moron? Were you born yesterday? Or do you take a pay check from those very companies that have wads of cash to blow posting nonsense like this on social networking sites? If that were the plot of a movie, this site would be digging a cracked article about the 6 ways that movie is the dumbest f**king movie of all time. Will people profit from a cap and trade deal? You bet your ass they will. Is that necessarily wrong? no. Will they profit as much from cap and trade as energy companies do today? Not even close. Personally, I don't care for cap and trade because it's too easily gamed and would be ruined by fraud. I think a carbon tax that is taken at our ports of entry or at the domestic source that phases in slowly would be far easier and cheaper to administrate. Plus it would actually stabilize our economy. Volatile energy prices are far more destructive to our economy than high prices because businesses and people cannot appropriately plan investments and actually hoard more money than they would under high but stable energy costs due to fear of the unknown. By creating a carbon tax, you decrease the demand for carbon energy and stabilize energy costs.

NorthMass: The other side being the rich and powerful mad scientists? I said avoid the political sides which are the ones who make the decisions based on a hand picked data and decide how it will help their side. Cap n Trade is not a great system but it is the only system that will get the attention and one that a polluting industry will understand.

Actually the ice has been growing for the past couple of years, therefore your argument doesn't really hold water (frozen or otherwise).

So nothing specifically will change in your life?

Of course the fact that I'm freezing my bollocks off here in England too is purely incidental...

10 years of cooling? Bulls**t. And a cite: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33482750/ns/us_news-en ...If you have something equally citable, let's see it.

@babar77:It doesn't require a conspiracy theory (although if you don't know who Maurice Strong is, you may want to check a little deeper into the rabbit hole). The fact is, the climate change proponents have vastly greater funding for promoting their agenda than those few "companies" that you think are against it. You do know that BP and Shell oil are favoring cap and trade, don't you? Here are some references for you:http://www.marshall.org/article.php?id=289http://www.prisonplanet.com/exxonmobil-has-donated ...

Then do it. Stop calling for a bunch of jack-booted thugs to bludgeon the whole world into it. All you believers can do it all by yourselves. Stop driving cars and using electricity and eating meat. Problem solved.
