darwine.opendarwin.org — This is not a hoax (as the previous post on the front page is) Darwine, as the OS X port is called, currently only compiles for the power PC but they are working on an Intel build and hoping that the new Intel macs will bring more interest to the project.

Also as opposed to the hoax claims this is not being done by Apple it is being done by the open source community.

It does work a little....not with XP programs though......and yes Darwine is a port for OS X, and it has already been ported for Intel & OS X since the Dev PC's...just not a final release

Wine/Cedega on OS X would be awesome. I could run some/most of the applications that I have already purchased and registered and not have to purchase new native OS X apps until I can understand the benefits. Gotta be patient and let things settle before I buy a new Intel iMac...

The argument is "why?"The answer, seamless web integration. Being able to run whatever app you want wherever you want to without being penalized for running the OS of choice. rnrnNow that Vista will be comming out with XP code being run in very much the same way as wine does on *nix. Most of the modern code production for Vista will be .NET based_Indigo_Avalon. That will most probably mean that the old code base will stabalize allowing for WINE to actually be able to hit it's mark (eventually). The point is, scince .NET is now available for linux, (aka MONO) we all stand a good chance of having application utopia. Where I can run what you run and you can run what I run. With the exception of a few OS specific applications. So in effect WINE on OSX means that we will be able to go full circle.
