Yes. You get native speed with Wine and it's open source. Windows in a virtual machine is neither.

I updated to 1.1.17 but I have not had enough free time to invest in testing this yet. I will post back here when I have had sufficient time to play. I did however read the release notes and I did not see any mention of 1.1.17 fixing this bug. With a VM you have to own a Windows license or it's illegal. Also, there's the performance overhead (try playing 3D games in a VM - you can't, but they work well in Wine). And the fact that VMs have pretty bad integration with the system..

Both platform (VM and Virtualization) should not use to play game.It better be use to port/test Linux program to Windows, vice versa.
