@fletch101If only a select few are having problems then that seems to indicate the problem is something they have in common with each other but NOT with those who aren't having problems. The later part eliminates vista from the list of possibilities.Oh and I'm a computer tech by trade... I deal with a lot more than just my computer... and I can say that most of the problems reported with vista, in my experience, can actually be traced back to one of three things:1. driver issues (nvidia was notorious for this early on and companies like Razer still haven't gotten their act together)2. underpowered hardware (yes you say the laptop is new but i have clients that think 5 years old is new)3. and lack of proper maintenance and ignorance of basic security practices (people disabling uac, or not paying attention to uac prompts chief among them)
ok look, i've tried the clean install, after formatting my hd. no luck. I believe the problem is my motherboard though.. and im trying to go to windows 7, gentlemen who branded me as a pirate..

@ flyingcaveman; I think consumers are never fond of change and windows 7 *is* worth adopting if you're buying a new PC.

XP SUCKS! Some of you probably still use 98. The first edition even!
