I'm confident that someone will disable it with a hack, or find a way around it. But it's still a stupid move on Microsoft's part, even if it only affects a small portion of video files.
"'screw windows, once you go Mac you won't go back =)'Unless you want to play Battlefield 2."DUDE, you nailed it right there. The only reason I don't go Mac. That and the expense. And the lack of upgradability.
if true wouldnt this be in Beta 1 already through an update? Hell M$ doesnt even know if there goin to do this! ITS IN BETA STUFF WILL CHANGE!!! There is no reason to start F|_|ckin your Linux/Mac moms yet!
LOL, Uninformed people.. Reminds me of those forwarded emails starting with "Can you believe that..." Well The implementation will be in not only the player software (Windows Media Vista in this case) but in the file as well so sorry to those who thought they could stick with Windows XP and play files protected with HDCP. (Personally I will be supporting non-corporate, HDCP-free files)
A. The Inquirer is a rag, just like The RegisterB. The title is misleading, you wont NEED a new montior unless you wish to watch hi-def content in its native formatAre all the /. trolls finding their way over to Digg?
Well this doesn't apply to all the people with non High Def Monitors. So relax as your DMR protected content will work fine on your monitor as you (And I) Will not be buying HD media content for our computers.(Not that I often buy media content other than audio for my iPod.)

I will not purchase DRM protected content requiring me to also buy a new monitor, since my $60 crt does quite a good job
