Nah I love terminals too. But honestly why do I need this label "Parental Controls" beside the Vista icon, when you can just use a smart icon for it? Plus as a terminal user you know that short is sweet. There's a reason why wget isn't called worldwidewebget or why vi 's command isn't visualeditor. it just makes sense to be simple.
So basically youre end all point with all this anti-ms/pro-apple posts is, no matter what ms created, since it's not apple, it looks horrible, has horrible functinality, and is a cheap imitation of OSX even though some of OSX's features were first conceptualized by microsoft.I get it. Don't buy it. Instead ill drop 2000 dollars on an a mac, and somehow figure out how to install DirectX and game to my hearts content. Oh wait looks like i need to buy the mac and windows. .. and then 10.5 when it comes out. Since 10.4 is perfect. When 10.5 comes out it will be perfect and 10.4 will nolonger be perfect and ill have to upgrade. One last thing i'm sure you can agree ahead of time that in 200 years when Micro-Pepsi-Soft-McDonald's releases Windows 2200 it will look horrible and be useless too. Since you've had about as much time using that future release as this one.By the way can I borrow your time machine? I want to meet Jesus II.(/sarcasm)
"Widgets were introduced in 10.4... and even if they weren't the first, Apple's widgets came WAY before Microsoft's."Widgets are small programs that can be called with a push of a button and do things like read email, open a calculator, control music, create a new text document... I've had keyboards that call up programs like outlook, calculator, IE explorer and control music and sound at the push of a button since 98. So really widgets are not all that new, but just presented differently. And they're not stealing their ideas, just emulating some things that sells well to improve a products appeal. All companies do it. Just like Apple and Microsoft borrowing the GUI from Xerox (You do know that they created the GUI right?) to bring more people to the world of computers.
"applaud MS for finally realizing some consistency is a good thing."You call yourself a Mac/Linux guy yet you complain about "Inconsistency" in MS products. I find it ironic with the scattered state of Linux and the lack of support for older hardware/software of Apple. Also what features do you mean that suck?
I think Vista and the PS3 will sell more than the Mac and Wii combo. Please Digg me down. Mark my words, "I'm loser baby, why don't you kill me?" Oh Fanboys please, just love and not hate.
Everyone seems to be missing the point..Paul Thurrott FTW! This guy has been reviewing and bringing us the scoop on Microsoft's hardware and software for ages. Anytime I see a good Vista article, it has Thurrott's name somewhere on it. I appreciate the guy.
