I installed the pre-RC1 release on my IBM workstation which has dual PIII 933 MHz Xeons, 512 MB RD-RAM, a geForce FX-5500 AGP card, and a 9 GB 10K RPM U160 drive, and the system was very usable, and quite happy with Vista and aero!
It does not have a 600 mb footprint. Maybe in an early beta, but certainly not now. With everything turned on- including multiple gadgets, the full Aero and everything- it takes about 400 mb. This will even go down as things get optimized.

I'm looking to scrap my gentoo install. =P" Yes indeed there are torrents - and some very mega popular ones too...Micosoft say that we may have to wait a week so that poor commoners such as us can install it - but I can't wait a week, particularly as I have just inadvertantly toasted my previous Vista install.GJ
Until 5476 it couldn't even override the MAC address. The Network Center is a mess. Sometimes connections just fail. You retry and get a valid socket, just out of nowhere. That's even in RC1. You can't be sure if it's because your provider, your connection or your programs. They would better get their things straight because the official launch is closing in.
How long did it take you to get properly working video drivers in Linux? 1 day, 2 days, 4, 8?Sorry, just trolling, but someone just HAD to bring up Linux is better tripe on a Vista message board.
