computerworld.com— Windows XP sales will, in other words, be nearly 50% higher in the next 12 months than Microsoft had estimated earlier.

I hate how Aero looks. After switching to Vista, a week later I changed it to Windows Classic. Only problem is Window Classic looks like crap on Vista. There are noticeable artifacts everywhere cause MSFT didn't bother to change any of the buttons or icons in Classic. I recently switched back to XP and couldn't be happier.
And of course as every good manager and Dilbert comic addict knows - interface plainness just encourages employees to sit there and fiddle about with the interface rather than get on with productive work!.Maybe they should buy you an Xterm hehe :P
I have two machines capable of running Vista Premium, and used the beta for 6 months. While there were some nice features, there was nothing compelling. I'm mostly into graphics, web design, email and surfing. I don't play games as much as I used to, so that's not an issue for me, or for most people I support. In the past, I have always gotten the new Windows version as soon as it came out-I support all my friends, and it made sense to have the latest OS.There is absolutely nothing in Vista to compel me to spend up to $400.00 for an OS. The money is my big sticking point.I'm dual-booting Ubuntu on one machine, and it does everything most people want an OS to do, without the security hassles of Windows. My XP machines are sufficiently tweaked that security is not a concern for now.I've received one support request for Vista, and helped one person purchase an XP machine because her principal work software doesn't support Vista.I suppose the switch to Vista is inevitable, as most people say, but MS has done a lousy job of selling this OS.
Solaris, BSD, Linux distros - they are all pretty much the same. They are all Unix or Unix clones. Mac OS X is Unix, but it is different enough, (and propritary enough) to be separated. DOS is dead, (yes, I know about FreeDOS, but it's not a usable desktop OS). Then there is Windows. So you have Windows, Mac, and *n*x. That's it.

To all the Ubuntu fanboys with hard-ons right now : When XP does finally die, it's Vista that'll take over, not Ubuntu. Just remember that.

OS X is kind of pointless on anything but Mac
