mydreamapp.com — "My Dream Windows App has just opened its doors, created by one Stefan Miganowicz of Leominster, Massachusetts. Stefan praises My Dream App as his source of inspiration, and gives 'kudos to [us] for pioneering an innovative way to bring applications to market', then immediately rips into the creativity of the Macintosh community…"

"Copies a Mac idea, sucks at it, and spends all his time whining about how gay the Mac community is."And they aren't? Style is for wussies. Functionality is for Windows users.

Macs suck. So do all of the My Dream App programs. Unfortunately the apps are almost useless. Stardock already made a product that changed weather and desktop background based on the weather in a person's area. It is about 5 years old or more. So... get a life and make a better app.

I think a nice P2P app like Limewire, but more Acquisitionish would be nice on the PC. I use a PC at work and there are times I might want just one song and don't wanna shell out a dollar for something that I won't be able to take home with me. It would be nice if I could just get that song. I think the MyDreamApp thing is a great idea and it should happen more. I'm a Mac user at home, and I do wish some of my Mac Brothas would stop being such pussies. Yes... they're having a similar contest. Wipe those tears off your blouse.

The site has been taken down. Thank god. What a horrible execution of a possibly good idea.

tjkomboWell I believe you are incorrect. I am a hardcore user. I used to feel like I was part of something when I was on the Amiga platform. Once it became a sensible choice to switch I went to windows and did not feel part of any movement of community. Then I moved to Mac and I found there was something there. Unfortunately it was a pecking order where the only way to move up and get any respect was to brown nose and arse lick better than the other weak willed brown nosers. There is no Mac Community or Movement.A good example is how the Mac "community" brown noses Woz. What has he done that was so special? He was quickly replaced at Apple in the early days by competent engineers, and every startup he has been involved with since has failed to fly. Though he has status in the Mac community so the users play "Rim the Sphincter" as much as they can because getting a Woz business card makes you important.

KelmonBut MyDreamApp hasn't proved itself either. It has a pile of developers, but as every person with an IQ worth noting has realized, developers are the worst people to identify what the average user wants or needs.Having a shortlist of apps chosen by people who don't understand human beings leaves you with a final winner that has been chosen by people who don't understand human beings. It doesn't matter how many votes it got, it is still flawed by programmers who think "this new techie gadget is neato".I predict that there will be three apps made from My Dream App... but unless they give them away free (or a free cut down version), or very cheap, that the apps will never be strong sellers. Mac magazines may brown nose a bit to make them sound great (ten and a half mice!) but the sales over the years will just not be there. The Windows version has a different problem. Software developers have filled pretty much every software niche with well thought out programs on Windows already. Unlike the Mac Developers who all jump like rabid sheep onto the latest fad at the same time.
