smartofficenews.com.au — Windows is broken and Microsoft has admitted it. In an unprecedented attempt to explain its Longhorn problems and how it abandoned its traditional way of working, the normally secretive software giant has given unparalleled access to The Wall Street Journal, even revealing how Vice President Jim Allchin, personally broke the bad news to Bill Gates.

Before you say "old ;o", just because the title of the story has "Microsoft" in it, read the date. The story just came out...tommorow? lol.Anyways, it was a good read. This may be the first real "big-step" Microsoft is taking to create better software.

"The anti-Microsoft bashing just for the sake of bashing is getting to be a bit much though..."I'll be the first to admit, Apple is FAR from perfect. It's simply a matter of the lesser of two evils. The reason that people bash Windoze so much isn't becuase they think that it can't be run by people who understand it well without many problems, it's because it is marketed and sold to the general public who don't know a goddamn thing about what makes a computer tick... Most people don't even have a clue about what is inside their machine, let alone how to tweak things in the OS to keep it running smooth... This is why Windoze has such a bad rap, because it is misrepresented by M$, is full of holes, and without the proper knowledge on the part of the user, is probably the most clusterf**ked family of operating operating systems to ever exist.I have pity on my friends and family who use Windoze, they just want a computer that does what they expect it to do without them having to spend a ton of time learning how to keep it running. Is that too much to expect, nope... So I'll keep talking s**t about them until they either release an OS that my grandma can use without feeling stupid, or lose their market share to a FAR superior OS, such as OSX, which my friend is coming soon... I guarantee that Microsoft knows it, and I can't believe that anyone would believe Jobs when he claims that they are only going to let it run on Apple branded Intel boxes... This "kitty" is about to pounce on your pals from Redmond, mark my words...

"-but from this presentation that I viewed on-line, (some MS monkey boy) it showed the OS was buggy as Hell and sssllllloooowwww and even crashed when they tried to load up a game--Quake 2 or 3 some other s**tty game"Please, feel free to show me this supposed presentation of a "s**tty game" (btw, quake 2 & 3 are not s**tty, ty ..). I'd love to see your evidence of how buggy this was. I saw plenty of videos about Vista that showed the operating system running quite stably and with some pretty nifty 3D features.

To be honest I prefered Microsoft being too ignorant to notice how screwed they are in the future, oh well guess they might keep that foot wedged in the door for another few years with this proactive biz... still, they are f**ked in the long run, cause they suck balls.

This is a breath of fresh air. You don't hear good news about Microsoft too often. It will take a while to change the corporate culture there. The company is just too big. They should delay Vista until 2007 until they get everything right. I won't be buying a half-baked Vista in late 2006, especially without WinFS. Spend the time and do a good job. It in the meantime I'll use my Mac.

"he and Mr. Ballmer needed to make sure that the recommendations from Mr. Allchin's group were sound."What a dolt. I swear Gates knows nothing about how to build a real OS based on tried and true methods handed down from Mainframes to Unix. He is such a computer dumbass that a small part of me wants their next OS to fail completely.

great! now that Windows will be Linux based, they basically leveled the playing field for all sorts of happy viruses, trojans, and other malware designed to make my utopian Mac lifestyle and living hell on earth!nice. :-|
