Another lacking feature in both XP and vista is the non-existence of a bittorrent client. I mean, come on... How hard is it to include one (or make one for that matter)? Or are MS afraid to be seen as supporters of piracy by the inclusion of a bittorrent client??

Yes. Yes, they are. Also, your average user [not Digg user, mind you] probably doesn't use BitTorrent (or even know what it is, for that matter). I'm not a a Linux hater or anything either. In fact, I mostly use Linux distros and OS X (Windows for gaming).

So you haven't used Windows in 10 years? Or never done anything remotely related to IT? The only IT professionals who don't use *nix are AV-people (who use Mac's) or Microsoft people.Seriously, head out of your ass, please. We get it, you like Linux. It doesn't make you special.

Burger,How many manufacturer's provide third party drivers for OSX, compared to windows? Your argument is pure fanboism

the reason why windows doesn't come with alot of built in functionality is because they are afraid they are gonna get sued by some asshats who claim they are "monopaly omfg!!!!!1"

+1, running 64bit, and didn't have to install any extra drivers except for wireless (broadcom). After some searching, found a guide on how to get that working. +1, I'm running 64bit and the flash install was that easy.-1, Flash doesn't work all the time :(. I still haven't tried the free implementations yet though, maybe I'll have better luck.-1, skype 64bit + pulseaudio sucks. Don't know what to do about thatProblem: all my current problems/issues have stemmed from non-free components (broadcom, flash, skype).Solution: use free and open software if at all possible. It's more reliable than the closed source alternatives.

I don't know about you guys, but having to manually keep a repository of Windows software is f***ing annoying.I have a folder called 'software/win32/' where I (used to) keep all of the latest Windows programs, such as Firefox 1.5, OpenOffice.org 1.1.5, etc. I had to download a brand new version every time a new Windows program came out. That folder is now over 3GB large. With Ubuntu/Linux, I download the programs when I need it and they update themselves pretty much. No more sisters, father or grandmother calling me telling me I need to update their computer!

In response to why not to have an OS preloaded as Vista, simple. OEM discs are utterly useless property and thats if you are lucky the recovery discs are junk. One of the best utilities to repair a borked Windows base, is sfc.exe /SCANNOW. You need a real disc however, and in many cases unless you bought an OEM disc from Newegg or whatnot, the vendor will not include this.I have been doing system repair for a sidegig for some time now, and those that have a real copy, I can jam that version (Pro, Home) into the drive and come back an hour or so later. Those with OEM licenses are hosed. To me, I am a pure Linux guy, but am happy to have spent the $260 for Vista Ult Upg. It can actually be used whereas the craptastic OEM recovery discs cannot. To me the saved time in the end is worth the extra $225 or whatever.Or just go Mac/Linux and avoid most of the BS.
