arstechnica.com — An internal list of the most popular requests for improving Windows has been leaked, giving a glimpse of what users want in the next version of Windows. Strangely, 'make Firefox the default browser' is not one of them.

Here's something that irks me on any operating system that I want on the list:LEAVE ME THE f**k ALONE MODE.In essence: If I'm running something in full screen. Any messages or windows other than abso-f**king-lutely important critical errors should be downright supressed while I am doing so. It's so annoying when I'm doing photoshop at work and bing! updates are available jumps in my face or when I'm playing Team Fortress (2 or classic) at home and OpenOffice alt tabs me out to tell me that there's a new Java update ready to install.I know this probably has to do with OS limitations ("how do we define a window that stands above all others, and yet can be suppressed by choice without posing a security threat?") but still, that s**t is obnoxious sometimes.

Most of the features on that list you can already do. Do you people not know how to change the location of your My Documents folder? And deleting addresses from IE's drop down? Use arrows to select and hit delete. How hard is that? Save location of desktop icons? They save automatically. This list is mostly people not knowing how to use the OS.

What Windows 7 needs is control over what Microsoft programs are installed, like back in Windows 98. I personally don't want and will never use "Windows DVD maker" or "Sync center" for example. And further integration with Microsoft services is the LAST thing Windows 7 needs, since XP, Microsoft has added links in explorer to "Buy this CD" or another example, Vista's welcome center or anytime upgrade - it's just advertisement, and it makes Windows look tacky.
