torrentfreak.com — Microsoft ran into major bandwidth problems when they released the latest Beta of Windows 7 to the public. The company decided to delay the release while they added some more servers, citing ?very heavy traffic?. If they had only used BitTorrent, this heavy traffic would have actually speeded up distribution, instead of slowing it down.

This is great. I activated the 32 bit version I got from a torrent last week with a key i got today...but then I decided to go to 64 bit anyway. It really is fantastic so far, both the 32 and 64 bit versions.

pc vendors that sell machines with 4gb+, yes. at least for integrated components. you got me though, i can't say i know about drivers for aftermarket products (or whatever...add ons). mainly because i'm running openSUSE linux as my main os, which either recognized my hardware or is a pain regardless of 32 or 64 bit.i guess i mostly meant on the "out of luck forever" part. out of luck forever on winxp64 maybe, but vista and 7 aren't exactly dead yet. (although i don't see myself switching from linux anytime soon).(currently dl win7)

yaosio: I dont mind change. But most capable web sites will maintain links or perform searches to content that they had before. Microsoft doesnt do this at all, when they change content it goes away and they call their product/service/idea something else or drop it all together. Worst web management ever.

Bit Torrent is NOT open source.

I was referring to the protocol not the re-branded utorrent client.
