Its almost like Microsoft is taking a page from Intel's tick tock strategy: Tick - major rewrite, Tock - major refinement.

Vista was supposed to be a major rewrite... it was supposed to be the answer to all of Windows' problems...Unfortunatly, I imagine 7 will still suffer from decade-old problems for the sake of compatibility with decade-old applications.

The best OS ever built is certainly stretching it, considering that XP also has its share of problems.These days it's definitely a great, stable OS. It's quickly becoming outdated, however, as many of its elements (including the GUI) are nearing a decade in age.
