wired.com — It will probably be a long time before they can make a nice juicy steak, but scientists believe minced meat for things like hamburgers, sausage, and pizza may only be a few years away. They also will have nutrients tailored to our needs. If it tastes good enough this should even be good for the environment.

I wonder if there is a way for them to make it [partially] self powering? Animal fat is (1) not good for you in large quantities, and (2) a pretty decent fuel source [not the best, but it works]. Could they clone meat, remove the majority of fat, and burn it to help fuel the process? Anyways, this would be wonderful in general, I say. Reduce the number of cows/pigs/whatever being raised, which is [when considering the massive corporate farming industry, not so much smaller, traditional farmers] a good thing. Also give me cheap meat, which is a good thing. Leaves the "real cows" to produce more, and hopefully less expensive, high quality steaks, etc. Presumably, this would be lower in fat, 100% disease free, and overall better for me than the ground meat we have today.I'd eat low fat $1/pound ground beef all day long, regardless of the "unholy science" that produces it!

This is a pretty big relief considering the state of America's farmlands. I for one am very excited to hear that I might be able to eat a cheesburger that has added nutrients. That and a bowl of Total Raisin Bran should keep me going pretty well. :)

"Its part of life."So is drilling for oil, but that doesn't mean it's correct to deplete a planet in the long run of a natural resource. The same goes for animals, or haven't you heard of the Dodo bird?
