greenhome.huddler.com — I have been following the company EEStor for some time now. Their claims are huge and I think they could make an unbelievable difference in the world of EVs. Is it all hype? I'm sure we'll get there some day, but talk like this always seems to be 10 years ahead of anything being available to the public. Do they blow up like all the great laptop batteries we've been getting lately?

Dugg for the "No bulls**t" comment from the CEO, but I am skeptical. There is very little information on the web about EEStor (no webpage) other than press releases or interviews, but they got some big backers and partners - venture capitalists, Lockheed-Martin, Zenn Motor Co., and LightEVs. The specs listed on wikipedia (from a LightEV press release) are impressive: 4.5 times the storage capacity of lithium ion batteries, less charge dissipation, and a service lifetime longer than that of the vehicle. It sounds like this technology may be well suited for storing photovoltaic energy at home.

I passed over the article at least a half dozen times because I kept misreading it as "Utahraptors" and figured the answer was obviously yes.
