err leaving the joker hanging at the end was not leaving the story open ended. They would never bring in another joker. it just would not go over well. Perhaps they planned on him breaking from jail, but once ledger died, there is no way.I wouldn't be surprised if they brought twoface back, however, since his role in the dark knight seemed so short. (i know he supposedly died, but there is a possibility he survived or something)

First of all I don't think you've read it , and if you want to pick apart the concept like that the Dark Knight /batman in general sound lame. -Guy in a Bat costume- Guy who dresses up like a clownetc etc The article is suggesting to use The Dark Knight Returns (one of the most highly regarded comic books ever) as inspiration for the story. I'd think it'd work for a 5th or 6th movie but that probably won't happen.
