news.independent.co.uk— Sony's Blu-ray technology is hot stuff. But, as it found out back in the 1980s, technical superiority doesn't always guarantee success.

So your saying "wolf" that nobody will make games for the ps3? I guess time will tell with that quote, but I can't imagine the PS3 going the way of the Genesis or Jaguar. Honestly, can you? And as you said about the cell cpu compared to PC's. That's a unfair comparison, your comparing a computer to a "VIDEO GAME" console. One has a sole purpose of playing games, the other does alot more than that, it's not like every office in the continent has PS3's at every cubicle, do they? So don't put them in the same category.
Roboblitz is not a very large game. The environments are not very detailed either, especially compared to other UE3 games. Puzzle games in general do not represent the complexity or scope of production for video games.
this is true.there is no quality difference between blu-ray and hd-dvd.they both support the same compression methods. The only difference really is that blu-ray has the potential to produce superior quality because of its larger capacity.
We do not use Betamax in the Broadcast industry. We use a format called Betacam which is at a much higher speed and the tapes themselves are much larger in size. This is a common mistake that people make but you'll find that they are completely different animals. In the 70s and mid 80s we used a tape that was the same size as the consumer tapes but it was called BETA ONE and it too was at a much higher speed and better quality.
@poxonyouI know my post was rather wordy, but you failed to read it all. I don't think the PS3 will share a similar fate as the 3DO. I just don't think that it can do as well as the PS2 at the price it's at. In order to do what the PS2 has done the price would need to be significantly more affordable. Somewhere around $300.That's not to say the PS3 can't sell 40 million consoles over the next five years. However, I think 100 million is definitely out of reach. I honestly expect a price drop from both Microsoft and Nintendo by next fall. I assume Sony might follow suit, but it won't be enough to have a $350 PS3 vs. a $200 360 or a $150 Wii. I just don't see how Sony is going to be able to sell this product to parents of average households.

Final Fantasy Only On This Platform Only, thus an immediate 1 million sales globally minimum.
