politico.com — "The Republican Party and John McCain should be afraid, very afraid, of Bob Barr. For only the second time since it began running presidential candidates in 1972, the Libertarian Party has a leader who has actually been elected to something (the first being Ron Paul, in 1988, then also a former Republican congressman)."

McCain is the reason I'm leaving the Republican Party - I can't support a candidate who supports "Cap and Trade" - who calls for a "League of Democracies" that sounds terrifyingly similar to the "League of Nations" almost 100 years ago - who only had a "C" grade from the NRA the last time he ran for the Senate - who not only supported Amnesty for Illegals, but was a co-author of the legislation - who admits Washington has corrupted him(google keating 5)The differences between McCain and Obama are minimal, when you consider that both believe big government can save you from yourself, and that we can save other nations from themselves as well. I will not play along with the game of lesser of two evils, as I believe that is part of what has plunged this nation into the mess we find ourselves today. It's so early in the campaign, I wish the LP nominated sooner, momentum is building...no doubt, but it would have been nice if it could have run up even sooner.the LP is like other parties, people who supported their favorite candidate like Mary Ruwart need time to grieve their loss, but then get behind the chose nominess, Bob Barr.Bob Barr is the best LP candidate, by far, even better than the 1988 candidate (Ron Paul, who didn't run a great campaign in 1988).His momentum is building but it will be August before it's really in stride. Still I'm encouraged by the weekend, the first independent money bomb for Bob is July 2nd. There is another for July 4th, but that site only has 2000 page hits, and its counting the same people multiple times (judging by his page counter). So, I don't expect July 4th to be a big money bomb...it will be a good fundraising day, because people are off from work, and its a good patriotic day to support your favorite candidate....I'm not affiliate with either money bomb, but if you are a fan of money bombs...July 2nd is probably the early favorite. barrbomb.com
