engadget.com — A reader is reporting to us that a coworker's tech-unsavvy friend, who is regularly hired by Apple to do marketing photo shoots, was recently brought on to take some shots of "the sleekest, sexiest damn phone he's ever seen." The launch date? "Some time in August." Yeah, not a typo -- August.

Well, "confirmed" is a strong word. He said, "We're not doing nothing" about the idea of the phone as a perfect conglomerate device for portable entertainment. I think the message here is that if they HAVEN'T started on a cell phone, they sure as hell should, after all this fuss.As much as I want to believe, I have serious doubts that it will show up in August. But hey, anything's possible.

Are we positive there isn't a homophone for "August"?

If this iPhone is good enough, I'd consider paying the Cingular cancellation fee. Maybe his Steviness would foot that bill just to get people to switch to an iPhone :)

I dunno, I found the iphone shown in the video to look quite nice, at least in how it functions [big screen, opens up, etc]. When [if?] the iPhone is released, it'll more than likely have the white glossy look that is typical with most Apple Products.

Wait wait wait.... isn't iphone was actually a software product in the mid-late 90's? full name was Internet-phone, which was suppose to be one of the first kind of internet voice communication product? I sort of remember using it with my 14.4k modem! wonder if that software company (which i totally forgot who made it!) still hold any copyright/trademark to that iphone name?... if so.. it will be interesting :D
