Wrong. Terrorist is "en vogue" since Bush is running bussiness. Before that, it were "rebels". It's not because of a different label, we're talking about different things.
The beliefs are not primal. They are very peculiar, very specific, to a particular, doctrinal worldview. The reactions are primal. But those reactions are the responsibility of the viewer. Should school uniforms clothe female children to the ankle (no skirts) because some repressed, militant religionist has a "primal" reaction to them? What about your wife's hair in braids, for all to see - should she be forced to wear a head covering because neighborhood fanatics get all "primal" about her?
I never called anyone a "towel head." I called the petitioners *assh**es* because they are making unreasonable demands, in the context of others making the same demands and committing violent acts. I cut my teeth on "christian" fundamentalist fanatics in my hometown - a group I consider to be equally dangerous. This "petition" is a THREAT, just like the DEMANDS of the anti-choicers who nod and wink when abortionists are shot, or clinics blown up. We must fight these arrogant f**ks on their own terms, blow for blow, or they'll be stoning our daughters and burning old women at the stake again. Don't be a muddle-headed, soft-hearted pussy-man! Please! The jerks who made this DEMAND (all caps, as in "in your FACE, free and open society!") are fanatics, pure and simple. Any muslim who wants to institute sharia law, or DEMAND that it be enforced, is an enemy of every free man, woman and child on the planet, and should expect to be snuffed out by anyone valuing their essential liberty and dignity enough to FIGHT for it.

You may not have called them towel heads, but my whole point in my first post was about the people in these comments who were so easy to cast off all muslims as some evil organization. Thanks for all your remarks, I agree with most of the issues you have pointed out, really. By the way, my comment was focusing on publishing policy, and it was meant to be as provocative as possible in order to consider a different point of view, shared by more than a billion of individuals. I think we must respect human beliefs, not necessarily embrace any religion. Not publishing that picture and explaining why, could create "another brick in the wall"? What about ignoring any kind of objection?
