revolution.ign.com — Is the final Wii secret a Physics Processing Unit? An interview (done yesterday) with a Konami developer mentions that the Wii has "built in physics simulation". Also, an interview done today with a Nintendo PR rep. confirms that there are more hardware secrets are yet to come. Could this be it?

Dunno why you got modded down... perfect valid idea. Being a Mac use, I know how good the Altivec SIMD can be. It let's my fairly wimpy Mac mini do decent video decoding, etc. It's very possible they wrote an API for physics that uses well coded SIMD routines.

Evdawg, "exactly, why would they hand devkits out to developers without a PPU if they were planning on including one?"For the same reason they handed out game cube dev kits with the wiimote prototype as the first revolution dev kit and for the same reason they handed out a circuit board without a touchscreen as the first DS dev kits.Because the system and dev kits aren't finished.

If nVidia can put Havok on cards, I don't see why Nintendo can't put Havok onboard.
