video.google.com— Forget about everything you know. (Nintendo Europe, Nintendo America). Perrin Kaplan says the Wii is region free and mentions that HD and DVD playback wasn't added due to cost implications.

Why would you even want to add the extra (destructive) time onto the hardware of playing dvd's on it... i mean i'm sure it'll be better than with the PS2, having to replace it every year because the drive is DEAD! But i mean buy the $30 dvd player for dvds, or better yet the $100 up-scaling dvd player :) and leave the Wii for what it's supposed to do, play the best games i've seen for the "next-gen" consoles!!!
This is what happens when you try to gather information from the internet. We've got bunch of amateurs tying to play journalists to promote their sites to make some easy $. Tech sites, including gaming, seem to be the worst offenders, especially with the next-gen consoles including the Wii. I'm fed up with reading ridiculous articles or blogs from sites like Joystick, Engadget and especially Kotaku.
The Wii is not Region Free. There are new articles from higher ups that state that Perrin was wrong. You'll see it on Digg soon if you haven't already. Unfortunately, this is the truth.
It almost seems like Perrin was not aware that this interview was going to be shown as a video. Perhaps she thought that it was going to be a printed story. She was obviously too relaxed and had no idea that the world would see her picking her nose! I'm very sure that she would not have wanted this shown. She even asked, almost concerned-like "Are they taking pictures?"
Or... a PS3? Somebody was pointing out that if you add up all the accessories that you need to get the same features for Xbox 360 as what comes standard on PS3 then the Xbox actually ends up costing a lot more than the PS3.

The woman being interviewed seems pretty distracted.

I keep pressing the "thumbs up" icon, but it won't give me more diggs for this comment!

You shouldn't be too concerned about your weight, eating disorders are a very bad thing.

You should already be able to play DVD's on your DVD PLAYER. C'mon guys...you could even use your Xbox 360, Xbox or PS2 if you wanted!
