joystiq.com — Move over, Pokemon. Another Wii game is receiving the Wi-Fi Connection treatment: Mario Strikers Charged. The world's favorite sport can now be played virtually by players all over the globe. A Mario-themed World Cup now seems inevitable. Charged hits UK Wii systems on May 25th. Unfortunately, a US release hasn't been announced yet.

@SiroccoNot sure if that was meant to be an Ace Ventura reference or not, but it made me laugh either way.

"Multiplayer modes include Ranked mode where players can compete to climb up..."HOLY CRAP! Does anyone else read that as "You don't have to have friend codes!?" HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP. Nintendo if you did online matchmaking for this game, you win at life.

... so you'll be able to play Mario Strikers Charged in 1080p. Lucky man.

@WiiniiI am Australian, and American football sucks. What's your point?

@trainwreckxFriends codes have only ever been used to set up matches with your friends. Almost all of the online DS games have offered random matchmaking (the only exception I can think of being Animal Crossing).

Because nothing says "party" like a digg circle jerk making fun of people who like to play games against those with skills- not usually found in the same living room.Cuz you know, all online gamers are as socially crippled as the general digg population.

I wish Nintendo would have gone wifi with at least one game on Launch day. And I want this game sooo bad. Nintendo could just ship the game in small amounts for an American version if it saves them money but don't just not release the game in America. I hope Nintendo gets some games going for the Wii Wifi real soon because I'm already a pro at all Sports in Wii Sports. I have to admit tho Tennis is a damn good workout. I got over 2000 for my Skill Level.

Nintendo confirmed friend codes for the Wii. You just missed it. Do a search.
