time.com — There is no possible way to say this enough times: great graphics don't make great games. Wii Sports?a mini-sports anthology that includes golf, boxing, tennis, baseball and bowling?looks like ColecoVision. The little guys on the screen don't even have arms. The tennis game alone is worth the price of admission. Which is nothing since it comes free

Man, TIME don't really know what they're on about. Looks like Colecovision? Yeah right. They're just not uber-realistic, that's all. My mum said the graphics are pretty good, and that's enough, no?The same guy gives Gears of War second place due to the "heat ripples rising off my gun barrel". He said he has quibbles about the gameplay, but it doesn't matter as long as he can stare at the graphics. Christ. Someone get this guy a movie to watch.Saying that though, I wouldn't say that Wii Sports is the best game of the year, but its definitely the one most people have enjoyed. My parents love showing it off to everyone, and pretty much everyone who's stepped into my house in the last month has been hooked on Wii Bowling. That's pretty amazing for a video game.

While it's not a great game for sitting down and getting into a great gaming experience (ala Gears of War, Zelda) it is a great boredom killer, whenever I have nothing to do I pop on Wii Tennis and play a round or two, great way to pass time.

Also w/ Lego Star Wars..don't get my wrong about lego star wars, it was a good game but come on a Lego game one of the top games of 06? and also no Oblivion?TIME defently needs to drop Lev Grossman..and just get a gaming magazines opionon on the best game...

@Mudhoney"Great collection of games. I don't like to say it's "free" though, since the price of the Wii would have probably been lower like it is in Japan without the game bundled in."Actually, Nintendo wanted the Wii to retail at 200 dollars, but retailers wanted the price to be 250 dollars. Nintendo said fine, and then added Wii Sports as a bonus to costumer's because of the price hike.

I found a trick for those soft shots with the putter: Line up with the shot, hold down A, then slowly swing through, coming to a stop at the end of your swing, and hold the remote at that angle for a second. It then does a soft tap. Other than soft taps with the putter, I think the Golf game is quite realistic, especially the putting. I can often ignore the gauges, just look at the screen, and putt like I would in real life, and it's quite accurate.

My girlfriend's dad originally declared that anyone who played the Wii becomes gay. Now plays at least two games of Wii Bowling before work everyday, I think his score is up to 255 or so. During Christmas the Wii commercial of the entire family laughing and having fun around a console came true at our house. I haven't seen a console do that since the original NES.

Wii Sports is by far the most "fun" game I've played in a long , long time and I LOVE my Wii. However is it fun because the game itself is fun or is it because of the way it is played? The fact that the Wii is such a new concept in consoles and you have to physically move the remote sort of enhances the effect of playing Basically what I'm saying is , would Wii Sports be named game of the year if the Wii just had a traditional controller? I don't so.
