gamersdaily.net — A couple of months ago nobody, but the most hardcore of Nintendo fans and the most extreme of the free thinkers (i.e. crazy people) thought the Revolution could take any other spot than third place in the console rat race.

I thought it was pretty clear that they could come first this generation after the video they showed at TGS 2005. The only thing we didn't see then was the screen, but I didn't need to see the screen to know that the idea is great and the technology is solid (since Nintendo's dabbled in this stuff before). Glad to see you guys finally agree with me :)

"The console is good enough, the games are good enough, Nintendo just need to make the general public *realise* it."Bad editing makes the believeability of an opinion article plummet IMO. I can't take anything anyone has to say seriously if they can't spell or have poor grammar. Not to mention it's in the third paragraph. Not that I don't believe that the Wii will take a good market share away from Sony...

Oh, I dunno about that. I've talked with some INCREDIBLY diehard sports gamers. They are WAITING for the Wii to come out with bated breath almost. The fact that they will finally have games that move ever closer to simulation of the real thing is really important. Why? Now you can, by rotating the controller, drive a NASCAR/F1 vehicle, so now, control's more realistic. You can, by mimicking throwing overhand, throw a touchdown pass, (it's not THAT hard to mimic throwing a football. It's been done already with the demo of casting a fishing rod using the Wii's motion control. They're essentially the same motions, slightly adapted) and these things have been shown in the tech demos to work, and work well. The game can deal with pretty much any type of screen currently on the market, too, from small screens to the biggest of the projector screens, it's been reported, and has the full position and tilt control active and working in all known test cases. These are somethings I've heard sports gamers complain about not having outside of expensive adapters and special controllers for YEARS. They are getting all of these with the Wii and more. Believe me, for sports gamers, there's definite interest. Really, for the sports fanatics, the deal breaker isn't the controller scheme, it will be more likely the lack of HDMI output. However, many of these same gamers are deriding the XBox 360 for various reasons and are expressing more than a little shock at the sticker price of the PS3.Also, EA's getting into the Wii with Madden. There will also be a special Wii-only version, with an entirely different engine than the one used for the other two systems. If Madden and EA aren't 'Big Names' in the sports game industry, then WHO IS? Now, it's not the Nintendo first party package, but then, due to EA's contract, there's no way they could get big name players in a lot of sports. EA's exclusivity contracts keep them from competing there.

That's your opinion, and your justified to have it. But can I ask why? What is your reasoning behind it?

hard core fans? crazy people? i doubt it. the only reason ive been saying the revolution would do amazingly well is due to the fact of its 'simple' controller with minimum buttons. i think alot of you fanboys and hardcore games, like me look at controllers as something simple, for me learning a new controller is easy (growing up with nes was some good times) but my parents absolutly fear 3d games with odd camera angles, controlls and a complex looking controller it was easy for me to believe that nintendo might have been onto something at that point. the names bad, but ive been hearing non-gamers talk about it all the time. my other prediction was that ps3 would do well, but recently they have been doing alot of back stabbing among other things like using us and making there console the 'living room trojan horse'. time to rant microsoft. when they say people will buy 2 consoles 360 and wii, they mean. "people who bought a 360 cant afford a ps3 and instead will buy a wii".and nintendo please to F*ing god! make a decent online set up! friend codes suck! and i swear if i see a warning when i boot my wii im gunna flip out!

Nintendo is a master of its craft. The company has always shelled out great products made from great parts including great titles and for always great prices... How do they do it in this day and age? I have no idea. All I know is I

@beervolcanoI think Mr. Arcade with the $100,000 arcade in his basement goes far to prove the power of nostalgia. There are some companies, like Gametap for instance, whom base their entire business model on the fact. (At least initially, in their case).Personally, I'd purchase the Wii -just- for it's Virtual Console, nevermind the promise of what I'm sure will be amazing and amazingly fun games, as well as the revolutionary controller. That hide and seek game, if it proves to be real, is a simple concept that will be an immense amount of fun. Moreso than most games in my collection. I expected a lot out of Nintendo this coming generation, and I can honestly say they've far surpassed my expectations. The only other thing I'm as excited about is Spore.

1t 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a PS3 I have no doubt the Wii will take a huge chunk of Sony's market share this generation. But this just goes to show, generation to generation, things can change fast-----------------------------------------------http://www.wiishlist.com

i couldn't agree more. too many people are comparing sony and microsoft as the sole competitors in the console war. though nintendo claim that they aren't in a competition, i believe they're slated to retake the throne in gaming .
