nytimes.com — These new gamers are content with the games they have, often going no further than the Wii Sports game that comes with the machine. They don’t buy new games with the fervor of a traditional gamer who is constantly seeking new stimulation.

I really don't think this is true. I think that there has just been some much shovelware for the system that it's been inundated with. The few good pieces of software are just harder to find. For me I have always been a mostly picky gamer but I used to be able to buy five or six games a year per system. So far it's about only Nintendo and Capcom that have really made anything that I have bought for my Wii.

hmm... this story seems to be aimed at the failure rate of Super Smash Bothers Brawl and why it may have had a disappointingly fall of of sell, rather than why Wii games are not selling well."Toys “R” Us has instructed its sales staff to warn customers that some Wiis cannot read the Smash Bros. disc, and to refuse to exchange the game if customers later claim it is defective. Some parents who receive that warning are just as happy to buy a different game instead. But Nintendo claims few Wiis are subject to the malfunction, and Toys “R” Us sales staff said few customers have been dissuaded from buying or keeping the game."I don't think this article makes a big enough case about the attach rate of the Wii being low. It sights a few analyst characters but not enough information is given to really lock down the truth in numbers. I know I have more than ten disc games for my Wii, and I see new stuff coming out every week that I want to buy for it. I'm going to go on record and say that SSBB did fail for me and I had to send my Wii back for repair. I don't know about the Toys 'R' Us story in which they must refuse to sell copies with out warning that it may not work with your Wii or give Disc Read Errors. But I do know that Nintendo seems to be on top of fixing the problem.

The Wii attach rate is MUCH higher than the 360's attach rate in it's first year. Anybody remember the top 100 game sales chart that was up here last week? The Wii had what, 14 exclusive games in the top 100 sales, versus the 360 and PS3 which were down around 3 or 4!So please, this fallacy has to end.Do these people look at real sales?Do they see that Mario and Sonic is almost at 2 million? Do they see that Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 is almost to a million?I guess if we ignore that Wii owners don't RUSH OUT TO BUY GAMES ON THE FIRST DAY OF THEIR RELEASE, and pretend that Nintendo games DON'T sell over a longer time frame than other consoles, we could almost pretend this article is true.Almost. Except you have to ignore facts, and be one of those fanboys that hate their system being outsold by the Wii.Or Epic. (Like I want their shovelware latest installments of ho-hum fps.)

If I wanted games that I already know I would get another XBox, PS2 or Gamecube, or for that matter a SNES, NES, C64, Amiga or whatever. I don't need new hardware when it doesn't provide anything new.

A quick perusal of the top ten games on VGChartz shows six Wii games, two 360 games and two PS3 games. If Wii gamers are to be considered "stingy", 360 and PS3 owners should be considered downright cheapasses.

ummm way to take words out of their context.....IGN: "Now, you can play the game in 480p and 16:9 widescreen, and you can do so using the Wii remote, which controls Amaterasu's celestial brush with a level of speed and accuracy never before possible. It's implemented so triumphantly that it actually changes the pace of the game, effectively speeding everything up." ..."I feel that Okami for Wii is the better of the two versions"Dominated much? Way to try to skew things.
