1up.com — Wii Friend Codes for online play will be title specific. In other words, you need to register every one of your buddies with a new set of random numbers every time you purchase a new game with online connectivity, according to a GameSpy interview.

As I've said dozens of times on Digg, do us all a favor and e-mail Nintendo. Let them know you don't like their online model(friend codes) and tell them to make changes.I see tons of people bitch about it on forums all across the internet, but no one ever seems to say, "hey, I gave Nintendo some feedback." Seriously, e-mail them. Tell your friends to e-mail them. I make sure to e-mail them at least once a month to let them know I HATE friend codes. And please don't start some stupid online petition; those never work.I realize this article isn't very specific when it tells you what exactly they're doing with online play, but hey, it's Nintendo. We already know it's something that will probably frustrate us.Edit: Almost forgot to provide their contact page. <a class="user" href="http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/webform.jsp">http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/webform.jsp</a>

My bet is they want to keep it free and xbox live is too complicated to keep free...but I would pay for a nintendo live system. Also lol at the 17 year old know it all.

I don't know why the are bothering with all of these security features. As soon as there is some kind of tragedy/scandal involving internet gaming, the media will just lump all consoles together. Nintendo will still draw heat and have to make changes for the sake of making chnges.

I have. And the way you're describing it is how it should work. This story, though, makes it sound -- to me -- like the Wii is going to get the Animal Crossing treatment, starting with Pokemon.

Can we please bury this as inaccurate now? People are slowly realizing that 15 seconds isn't really that long of a time.YOU DON'T NEED ANY CODE TO PLAY PEOPLE ONLINE. Just one code for your Friends, and I'm talking REAL friends, not MySpace friends.

This is a true fact, at least how Mario Kart works... one cool thing though is you can auto send your Mario Kart friend code to people in your Wii Friend Code address book... so you don't have to type it out or make the other person remember it. So that helps a bit, but I agree it is a bit silly.
