gamespot.com — We broke out a separate section for more component-versus-composite cable-comparison shots since we wanted to show how the image-quality difference affects different games. High-detail games like Twilight Princess will get the most benefit from component cables, but you can get away with using composite cables in games with more simple graphics.

FYI the cables are backorder in Canada...if not elsewhere.

Actually, this making me not use my Wii, and not play Zelda.I have a component (480p!) cable for my Cube, but my Wii one hasn't been delivered yet. I can't even hook in my Wii properly because I use a component-only switchbox for my Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2 and Gamecube.N, you dumbos.I can't believe they didn't make an S-video cable at all.

I have a question. I have a non-HD TV with component inputs. Any reason to get the cable? I am relatively sure it can't do 480p.

Wow, maybe just me, but I think I prefer the look of composite judging by these screens. I'm yet to get my hands on a wii to see for certain, but from these screenshots I like the blur from the composite, it smooths out some of the rougher textures. Similar techniques are used in photoshop to 'enhance' rough edges, as well as some aliasing technologies.

I appreciate the info that all of you have provided. I have not spent much time on my Wii, but I just hooked it up to a 61" Panasonic DLP HDTV and found it to be extremely blurry. I guess it is to be expected on composite, but thanks for the information, I'll be picking up the component adapter this evening.
