tgdaily.com— Despite its lack of major end-user features, Snow Leopard could be the biggest OS X update ever thanks to one killer feature - speed and performance that will take everyday computing to the next level.

I benched many applications on a 3800+ (single core) with 1GB, XP Pro (32-bit), and SATA RAID against a brand new dual CPU G5 with 3 GB, and OSX (64-bit). The mac was consistently, significantly slower with every single app i tested. Browsers, Office, and Matlab. Matlab is where most of the intense benching took place--i was arguing with my adviser to either get me a faster machine (none existed) or i will work at home more. Not to mention that he spent over $4k for that machine while i spent $1,400 to build my windows rig (still using it after a few upgrades). To be honest, i felt like my hands were tied when on that mac. I dont know how you fools do it.Edit: @ophello, it was a mac only lab. So, yes, i was *forced* to use a mac.
Windows 7 adds a new taskbar and startup screen. That's all I've found so far. It performs just as well as XP, but I don't see any new features other than the taskbar. Internet Explorer 8 is not a feature.
I don't think so. They are widescreen, which makes them (obviously) wider and therefore harder to fit in smaller packs. The 12' were very small, with almost the same height as the current 13' and much less wide. It's still a better design for a work machine IMHO.
inkswamp, I've seen the same thing... countless Windows machines failing all around me in business and personal life while the Apple machines humm along until they are simply put out to pasture with age.Coincidence? Yes, for fools like zeth006 who don't understand the value of... engineering... it is...Goto school zeth. Learn about the power of engineering and how it applies to computers. Then get back with us.
You shouldn't really base it on 3 moths with a hackintosh...And anyway, I know how you feel about those Mac Pros. We have about 5 or 6 and we use them solely for our video postproduction, and they are as reliable as a snail in a cross country event. Seriously, I don't know HOW it happens, but they just suck. FCP crashes all the time and deletes our data, thank God for backups...Eh, I mean they're great computers, and OS X is a nice OS, but something's just not right...Of course, they're quad G5's running Tiger, so I suppose it's prolly a bit better now.

Yes, I know how to turn off the 3D Dock. Since they don't have an external drive, they won't be using TM.

I forgot that Microsoft were the Robin Hoods of the software industry...
