I have a similar experience. I started making maps when I was about 8 years old using WADED. My Dad bought me this awesome kit called Tricks of the Doom Gurus that had level design and mod software along with a huge tutorial book. Those were the days...

Doom was great... I remember renting it from blockbuster on my snes... I actually bought the game for my ps1 when I got that.. yeah Doom was my first game for ps1... the worst level was #23... tower of babel with that cybernetic monster... that thing was impossible withut cheats... that or I sucked at games.. lol
