McDonalds has good food. I eat there pretty regularly, like maybe two times a month or more and I have no weight gain or poor health. Food is food. Just don't overdo it, like any other food, and you'll be fine.
Walking is generally the answer to most problems. Plus, most people in Europe walk everywhere, so why cant we at least attempt walking down the street?
Walking regularly will help activate a metabolic component. Complement that with a proper diet then you got a good weight loss formula to begin with. I prefer brisk walking than doing that on a thread mill...well, its more fun too.
Walking is a great low impact workout for those of us that don't like to jog. A nice brisk walk can be just as effected as jogging. Not to mention is a lot easier on the knee's.

Those campus shuttles are a godsend when you have to trudge nearly a mile uphill in the snow, carrying a heavy engineering book. No seriously.
