businessweek.com — And with the impending shipment of a new version that should put the iPhone in the mainstream of consumer and business markets worldwide, Apple is extending its sway over much larger players such as Nokia and Samsung.

I have to say that my iPhone is thw worst PHONE I have owned so far. And I cannot blame just the ATT network around me (Boston). Sometimes the phone drops calls and takes FOREVER to regain a signal while my friends craptacular run of the mill ATT phone has full bars and can make calls while I am still waiting for the phone to reaquire a signal.I do like the features of the iPhone though, the interface and safari, and I think its a great device. But as a phone so far its ok at best.

Exactly. Look at the Razor. It was a sexy new product with a real name. All the other phones were bulky and had names like the Nokia 4300BX-56c.

totally. The Razor wasn't even that great of a phone. Horrible interface. But it was cool and the phone to have. "mommy mommy i want a 4300BXRV for Christmas!!!!!""dude what phone you rockin?.....its my 653GCRT....."exactly. Product naming is a big part of it....

You just dont get it, Jakem. I have used windows smartphones, and pocket pcs, and while it is true you can install cab files right on the device, it is not even CLOSE to what Apple is going to be offering with their app store. The app store is going to be like iTunes but with applications you can download and install on your iphone. Kind of like Avantgo, but seamless and actually useful.I currently have an iPod Touch, but it has more than convinced me that there is no other smartphone out that that even comes close to the ease of use of the iPhone. Just the safari browser alone is worth it, let alone all the other features that Apple did RIGHT (yes I know plenty of other smartphones have these features and more, but are they usable? BARELY). I will be in line for the 3G for sure.

But then again why should they invest in spy phone technology Jesus Phone style anyway ?El Reg link http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/20/iphone_set ...Some evils never change , they could have rivaled M$ but as always greed exceeds ability !

Follow the negatives... he's actually right... he just used double negatives..

I pay $50 a month for mine, with unlimited internet, and the maps app DOES have turn by turn directions, it just doesn't yell them out if that's what you're saying. Have you ever used flash on a phone camera? The picture comes out worse with it on! It's easier to just download the picture into iPhoto and make corrections (oh... you have a PC... yeah, about that...)

i have a feeling that blackberry is still going to feel very safe and secure in the business community. the iphone is flashy and smooth, sure, but blackberries have multiple models and styles, are cheaper, have tactile keyboards which every salesman is already comfortable using, and a huge market share already secured within corporations. i think apple is going to be sorely disappointed when corporations don't shift everything over to the iphone because of the millions it will cost them to do it... all for a flashy phone that's built more for entertainment than for business. sorry, corporations just don't do s**t like that

WTF ??You can download OODLES of quality apps from anyone and oodles of songs and Divx movies and play any dam f**king thing you want!"it is true you can install cab files right on the device, it is not even CLOSE to what Apple is going to be offering with their app store." Um, you think the iphone has apps that just magically install itself with no f**king files at all? Seriously what is the argument, that you can actually see the file that's doing the installation? No really what is the argument?!!!!Are you retarded? Oh you bought an iphone 'nuff said !
