i.gizmodo.com— "Yeah, I said it. The Windows 7 taskbar is the most important Windows UI change since Windows 95, and it will dramatically change the way you use Windows. And it's better than the Mac's Dock."

Whilst I've not actually played with Windows 7, based on the fairly in-depth descriptions in the article, I nearly wrote the whole piece off as a load of tripe...until I read this near the end:"It's true that it's actually less necessary for the Dock to be a superpowered wunderkind—Spaces gives you multiple desktops to work on, and Expose is pretty fantastic."I suspect...and of course, without actually having tried W7, I can't say for certain...that nothing major will change. You're not going to find Mac fanboys suddenly switching to Windows or vise versa. People know what they like and they tend to like what they know. All the 'shortcomings' of the Dock over the "Superbar" (jeebus, please tell me that will officially change title before release) can easily be rectified by a seasoned OS X user, and anything Windows falls short on can very likely be corrected by a seasoned Window-cleaner.That all having been said, I was a MS user for the past, oh, 15-20 years now before buying my iMac. I don't hate Windows...despite what I sometimes say...but I don't see myself going back, either. But I applaud MS for trying to continue moving forward in their UI design.
its all just pre school plagiaristic bollocks.Miss Miss, he's coping me! really. what next? a stapler war, or a slap fighti hate the way this is turning out, i just want a computer that works
I have two words for you, SNOW LEOPARD!While MS seems to keep copying MAC OSX by upgrading it's layout by adding more to Apple's original layouts, Apple is developing a new OS that is going to take a dump on Windows 7 and its 7 different version which will set the bench mark for operating systems in the future and multi core processing. Windows 7 is already facing many security issues, SHOCKER and it's stock is plummeting while they layoff 5000 employes just to start. Apple posted it's biggest earning ever last quarter of 10 billion dollars with over 3 billion in profit in the middle of an economic breakdown. Looking at this new DOC windows made doesn't mean s**t, great, it's an improvement of another companies design, that's still unoriginal and really doesn't mean much. The fact of the matter is, you'll be able to run windows 7 on OSX as i'm sure so why even waste your time. You have to look at the company and it's business model that determine what's what and which will always out perform the other. Snow Leopard and Apple is years ahead of Microsoft in OS technology so be greatful. If OSX never came out, Microsoft would have never even wasted time updating it's still out of date OS. All these new features that Microsoft is adding is just a perception to cover up it's instability. When Snow Leopard comes with it's ability to harness multi core processors to it's full potential, MS will just keep lagging behind. I wonder when MS will make a touch screen phone with no buttons, last i saw, Steve Balmer was making fun of the iphone and how it has no buttons. He sure missed that one. Bottom line "when you have a company that builds it's own products, does not license it's OS to any other vendor knowing it could make more money by doing so, has a great brand that reflects innovation and style, stores all over world, almost 30 billion in the bank in pure liquid cash to play with, you have APPLE"The fact that MS is trying which is great and it only fuels more competition which is why companies build better products so I think this is great and really healthy for the industry. I just know Apple has many tricks under it's sleeve and continues to wow as everyone expects them too. Fire Steve Balmer and you'll save MS, keep him there and the company will fall. Apple leads, everyone else follows in this Industry.
I see what you mean, but that only works properly if you only have one instance of that program open anyways since it currently brings up all running instances of that program. Also, there is a registry setting that you can change the delay for the preview to come up. I took the delay completely off on my computer and rely completely on the preview to open a window. http://windows7news.com/2009/02/09/change-windows- ... Shows you how to do it. And you may think that it still takes extra time to move your mouse over the icon and then move to the preview you want, but after using it this way for the past month, I can assure you that it doesn't take any extra time.
I Think Being A Windows 7 user and all they made a good move with windows 7 vista did suck i have used macs but i gotta say they dont change much at all i mean people complained about vista i complain about the mac sure they have a nice look and all but one they cost way to much becuase you cant just go get a pc and put a mac os on it unless it has the right stuff and wit windows you can install it on almost anything and it will work

Err, haven't we been able to launch applications from the taskbar since 1995?
