time.com— Want to get the most out of your next brainstorming session at work? Bring in an oddball. If you can't find an oddball, try a naysayer or even a mere stranger ? anyone who can keep things vaguely uncomfortable.

Whats even better than a single odd-ball in the office, is an office full of em. Especially when people keep forgetting to lock their computers...../April Fools day was awesome, completely trashed the web design departments computers...
The problem with the odd-ball types is that often they are too caught up on the details just to prove their point, which drags on the already somewhat useless meetings that much longer. If anything, the koolaid drinking cheerleader types are a lot more useful in the meetings because they are perfectly predictable and other can just play with their blackberries when they start talking. I much prefer getting input from the silent types who usually quietly sit in the back, but listen through and then give out some really meaningful viewpoint at the end.

I can't believe that Time had something useful to say. They must REALLY be desperate to survive.
