McCain became enmeshed in a scandal during the 1980s as one of five United States Senators comprising the so-called "Keating Five". Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in lawful political contributions from Charles Keating Jr. and his associates at Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, along with trips on Keating's jets that McCain belatedly repaid two years later. In 1987, McCain was one of the five senators whom Keating contacted in order to prevent the government's seizure of Lincoln, and McCain met twice with federal regulators to discuss the government's investigation of Lincolnhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCainOn his Keating Five experience, McCain has said: "The appearance of it was wrong. The Obama campaign is holding the Keating scandal as a trump card, to be played if and when McCain tries to re-kindle news coverage of Bill Ayers or Rev. Wright. Although McCain was largely exonerated, the whole situation was similar enough to the current banking crisis that the threat might prevent McCain from running with Ayers or Wright for fear of retaliation, unless he becomes truly desperate.

Trump card? To show how McCain was found innocent while 3 Democrats weren't? So using your logic then had Hillary won the Republicans would have used Whitewater where 14 people were convicted but the Clintons were found innocent as a trump card. You haven't a shred of logic, but it's entertaining to read your ignorance ... it's like watching fat people at an all you can eat buffet; tragic but entertaining.

The Keating S&L scandal resulted in a huge bill to the taxpayer and cleaned out the life savings of many elderly people. McCain walked with a slap on the wrist when he should have been punished severely. Because, lookit, here he is doing it again.
