Most of the TNR writers are not libertarians, they draw there heritage from left-wing authoritarians. The magazine wrote glowing reviews of fascist Italy and communist Russia before WW2. The brief description gives the false impression that they are even vaguely libertarian.

I believe he was infering that they try to beleve and make others think they are Libertarians when what they are in actuality are fascists under the mask..
