You know what I *HATE* most about most mainstream music!??!??! The composition is so basic (or nonexistent), it's crap! Listen to Bach, or any other classical composer - they know how to compose pieces that thrill your ear. Listen to the Modern Jazz Quartet, and then the Jaques Loussier Trio. One does pure improvisation (masters at it, I might add), the other does improvisation over a set composition (again, masters at what they do). Which one do you want to listen to more, hum to, and get stuck in your head? The Jaques Loussier Trio, hands-down...
Simply brilliant and true -most of the music we hear has only a few patterns used over and over again. Sort of like how the same scream is used in virtually every action movie.
As a Violist, I must say that violas got a crappy score too. I never thought till now, 9 years after my elementary school orchestra days, how bad the cellos got it. :(
Yeah, Green Day isn't punk rock, woohoo. I'm almost positive you could find the same progression in a Clash song, a Rancid song, a Dropkick Murphys song, or whatever punk rock means to you. Just cause chord progressions are recycled doesn't invalidate the type of music you like.
It doesn't prove that mainstream music sucks. It's just that there's only a finite number of chord progressions of a certain length that are easy to listen to. Ever heard of the blues? Pretty much every song in that entire genre uses the same chords. Doesn't mean it sucks. Chord progressions != songs.

That guy reminded me of Randall from Clerks at points, just with the way he spoke.

As a former wedding videographer, I second this man's distaste for that song.

Really? I personally think that the bass part is the best part of the song.

The subtitles are kind of amusing if you know both languages.
