nytimes.com — "Evolutionary biology has vanished from the list of acceptable fields of study for recipients of a federal education grant for low-income college students." Some claim the omission was inadvertant, but after another check, it's still not on the list! Are some political forces at work here?

@ Egoist"How do you have a leap of logic from a major being left off of an administrative form to the Iraq War?"Because he's been paying attention...which pile of sand have you been buring your head in?

"And Democrats are known for listening to reason and facts? I mean, Al Gore invented the Internet by simply showing up to a funding committee."Democrats are smart enough to actually know what Al Gore said rather that repeat a poor myth over and over and over and over.

"Evolution is just the scientific aspect of Atheistic beliefs."Are you genuinely unaware that the majority of individuals who accept the theory of evolution are not atheists, or are you just lying?

>Mr. Bush is not an evangelical fundamentalist. Like most of>our presidents he is Episcopalian. But he sure as heck will>cater to fundies to get their guaranteed votes.aaah... he sounds like an evangelical me. i know this is a perception thing. if you don't have religion then the minor differences sound something like this:religion1 he pissed then s**t... and then puked.religion2 no... he puked... then pissed and then s**t.religion3 nobody pukes before they piss or s**t.

It's back on the list of approved majors. Might have just been a typo.

Based solely on the fact as stated in the article;[Jeremy Gunn, who directs the Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief at the American Civil Liberties Union, said that if the change was not immediately reversed “we will certainly pursue this.”]Why would the ACLU fight for Evolutionary Biology from a Religion and Belief standpoint if it was NOT a religion or was NOT a belief. I can only conclude that the ACLU views Evolutionary Biology as a religion or views Evolutionary Biology as a belief. We know that evolution is a theory that takes tons of faith to believe that something came from nothing, etc. It is also known for the ONLY theory of origins accepted by the Department of Education. I think there is a point to be said. Evolution is not only a faith, but a religion and on this basis it should be exempt from being taught in our secular non-religious educational system, including lower and higher educational facilities. Note: they are referring to evolutionary biology and not to be confused with the legitimate science called Biology.
