productwiki.com— Examining why digg is still great in light of the recent digg protests. If David were a blogger battling the Internet Goliath, then digg would be his sling.

"I agree that the social convention here that you can't post something from your own blog is BS."Try writing the blog entry 100% yourself. Use both your college composition and creative writing skills. Do a minimal bit of research (10-15 minutes) on the blog post. Link to your sources (basically, what the poster of this story did). Then no-one will complain that you're posting your blog entry to Digg, or anywhere else for that matter.I think the social convention is to lambast someone who takes a Reuters news segment, copies and pastes into their blog, then sticks a bunch of stupid ads around the content.
Klisk - you obviously must know something if you are working in the field. I think what he meant by what you learn in college etc., was use common sense in your writing. Basic writing techniques and such. Not so much that one had to be a degree holding lit./comm. major to post s**t in a blog. Or i could be wrong and he really may have been trying to a real jackass but i don't think his intent was that malicious. That and the fact that all it takes is some work.
My average read time across the board is over 4 minutes. My averatge read time for Digg visitors after a piece is promoted to te front page is just over 2.5 minutes. Regardless of whay they bounce in less than 10 seconds, they have not read the content. That plus the fact that there are more diggs than there are hits can only lead to one conclusion. Pages are being dug by some who have not read the content. That makes them what? Morons? Misfits? Kids playing games? One thing for sure is they are not is a community of reviewers who care about quality makeing it to the front page.Without that s**t floats to the top.

I comment on Digg because the Slashdot people are too smart for me. I feel on level with them, here however I feel superior and I can stroke my ego.
