gamelemons.com — If you're going to make a game where the storyline is serious in nature, with guns and swords, the end of the world, corrupt governments, or some other vague evil presence hell bent on overtaking the world; can we at least have the hero not look like a flamboyant metrosexual with a sword?

Right, but why would Japanese game makers put something "undesirable" into their game. The main reason they're making the game is to appeal to their audience, which is for the most part, Japanese. They want them to buy their game. If Master Cheif pulled a Samus, I bet most American gamers would destroy their Xboxes in protest.

Choice? In a jRPG? Sorry, the only choices you get are directly battle-related. Hell, you can't even change the character's clothing most of the time. And that won't change as long as they rely heavily on prerendered cutscenes. (Or it might not change at all.)

I'm 300 pounds of raw muscle, and I eat free weights for breakfast. I can't have this pansy as my virtual representation; how am I supposed to identify with him? I need someone who snaps into Slim Jims, enters the world's strongest man competition, and can do triple backflips. In seriousness, a few muscles + a non-gay haircut would be nice.

The real question is, Why are most RPGs so gay?
