cinemafusion.com — Box offices still draw nice crowds, particularly for good films with great advertising and strong word-of-mouth. We thought it?d be interesting to explore why this phenomenon continues, even in this day and age of large plasma HDTV screens, 7.1 sound systems?and dare we say it?bootleg DVDs and illegal downloads.

Nice article. Not sure I totally agree though. Home theatre can be pretty close, and it's a lot cheaper too.

Makes some good points. Some I can't agree with but not cleaning up after you leave is always nice.

#1) Can't debate that - although seeing a movie theater screen from 60 feet away isn't much better than my 42" screen at about 9 feet.#2) That's a damn joke. There are generally more ads before a theater movie than a (retail) DVD. And instead of hearing the ambience of a home on your couch, you're sitting in a god-knows-what's-been-done-to-this seat with a ton of strangers - some of whom are inevitably obnoxious.#3) The sound isn't that much better when you look at the square footage of a theater (with an audience chiming in) compared to the square footage of your average living room. I get big sound - and I can *adjust* it, too.No point in going on, really. Because of my home theater I don't think I'll ever pay to go see a movie again. This article is like saying "Why home-cooked meals suck and McDonald's rules". -commiecat

Well not a lot cheaper but it is more enjoyable.
