time.com — As obesity rates continue to rise in the U.S., so might our acceptance of those who are overweight. But a new study from Yale University suggests the converse trend: rather than feeling tolerance in our society, the overweight and obese say they feel more heavily discriminated against now than they did a decade ago.

your BMR (basic metabolic rate) is probably in the area of about 1500kcal not 800

I am a skinny people that has to eat all day just to keep myself from wasting away-which is not a condition to be envied-diet and exercise are not the end all to the matter of weight or I WOULD be obese

It is true that your metabolism has more to do with the time of the day you eat, among many other things, than the amount you eat. It is also better to eat several times a day than just three, so if that is true then you would actually wind up eating more, but your body's' metabolism would be more efficient

wow... that's impressive. i'm 40 yrs old. 5'4, 112lbs. but 20 years ago, i was 20 lbs less. Basically my life style hasn't changed much over the years. Mostly I eat cereal, steamed rice, vegetables (raw or cooked), fruits and only drink water and tea. Occasionally, I will eat my kids' meat leftover or drink their oj leftover. I have played with my kids all the time. However, for mid aged women, even drinking water will make them gain weight, literally. So now I try to be more active. I walk 40 min per day and do ab workout 20 min per day.

I am overweight at this point. I've gained 10 pounds or so in the last six months, maybe a bit more. Some of it is fluid retention, but some of it is fat. I can't help it. It's not due to overeating or to not eating a healthy diet. I exercise several times a week at a gym for a couple of hours at a go, eat a very healthy diet, and don't eat very much, but I'm on peritoneal dialysis and the sugar in the dialysate solution passes into my bloodstream and adds calories that I can't help but take in. Yet I know I'm going to be as negatively judged and experience bias as someone who is overweight or obese because he or she overeats and doesn't exercise. I really am uncomfortable with all the fat-hatred I see above.
