Spore is simply the product of the misconception that casual games should be minigames, microgames or toys that a baby could win by mistake. When in reality the best casual games are simple to learn but grow more and more complex and difficult, (peggle per example) what makes a game fun is change and challenge. What fun can you get from clicking and pointing in the same spot for several minutes, or play a game of simon to pass a phase? The civilization part of spore is actually interesting (specially if you playing as a pacifist or a merchant) even if simplistic, but if you expend enough time in it (half an hour or so) a button allowing you to finish the entire phase with a single move pops up. :( (?) EA heres a hint, we are not idiots.
To me spore has always seem badly written, it frequently crashes and does not have a built in autosaveIm sure someone will make a much improved version with the same style
