bit-tech.net — An interesting discussion on why Sony had to put Lik-Sang out of business - the negative publicity that would otherwise be generated for the PS3. The system is likely to be flakey and Lik-Sang won't have a full warranty, lining Sony up for even more criticism in the EU countries it has spurned for launch. An cool take on the situation.

@crilen007I knew some juvenile would come up with a couple of cases where the courts screwed up. Which is why you can appeal a judgement. In this case there is nothing to appeal.

Microsoft and Nintendo sued them in the past to stop them from selling things like modchips. Which did change and is why Lik-Sang continued to operate until this day. Sony did close them down using an indirect and altogether insidious method. To deny that is incredibly stupid.

And there'll be 3 more that launch later this week to take its place. I mean, you could easily close Lik Sang, sell its inventory to another, new entity unencumbered by lawsuits and be back in business in no time. Such is the way of the internets.

christ, what blood are you talkin about? This is no small company, lik-sang is part of a bigger company. they'll eventually come up with a new, more law abiding, business plan that will not put them at any sort of disadvantage nor cah flow loss. im sure they saw it coming, a lawsuit just doesn't drop on your lap out of the plaintiff's ass, they couldve just as easily dropped the whole PS line and head on. plus the writer did make one excellent point that everyone has failed to grasp, Sony goes down, there's less choice. Face it, competition is a good thing, giving us gamers/buyers way more choice by making producers push out the most they can out of the current available tech. wii with its innovation, 360 with its online, and the ps3 with its immense raw horsepower.

Left on Lik Sang's site from me earlier:"Sony - you bullying muthaf**kers - After years of buying your products including, most recently, my PSP from Lik-Sang and your RH1 MiniDisc, I am disgusted by your tactics and behaviour. And since the only power I seem to have is my money, I will ensure not to spend it on you or your subsidiaries whenever possible, or when you have supplied components to others. I'm delighted to hear that the recent battery recall may cost you dearly. I'll be encouraging my friends to avoid your products in the future too.I strongly suggest you attempt to make amends and rectify your thoroughly reprehensible behaviour - resorting to litigation to resolve a dispute. You are a vexatious litigant (<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vexatious_litigant)">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vexatious_litigant)</a> and I hope your former customers harass you in the same way you have harassed Lik Sang. I see this as outright abuse of the legal system in my country."

Daedalus:They are free to continue their business, just not in the EU.Lik-Sang shut their own website of the own accord. They did this before, when MS, N and Sony sued them over modchips and backup devices.

Which is to say the PS3 is OVERPRICED, AND a POS at the same time?I think there should be a GAMER BOYCOTT of the ps3! DO NOT BUY (a ps3) AT ANY PRICE, even if it went down to $99 or FREE! Sony needs another black eye for screwing with gaming enthusiasts (to match the one they got making s**tty laptop batteries).
