The author mentions Ron Paul' plan to banish the income tax which is cool but most of the article is just one easy way of explaining complex economic theory. Agree or not the analogy makes the theory easy to understand.

I'm an RP fan, but isn't RP an advocate for what's called a "consumption tax". Essentially, that's when you compensate for the decrease or elimination of the Income tax by increasing sales taxes? The article mentions nothing about this.

No not at all Ron Paul is for the elimination of the IRS and the income tax and replacing it with NOTHING. The position you are describing is the one held by Mike Huckabee. Ron has stated simply cut spending to 2001 levels and we don't need an income tax that is how much they blow up on the hill on both sides of the isle.
