tech.yahoo.com — Never mind that today's factory-produced starlets and mini-clones just don't have the practiced chops of the supergroups of yesteryear, pop in a new CD and you might notice that the quality of the music itself—maybe something as simple as a snare drum hit—just doesn't sound as crisp and as clear as you're used to. Why is that?

I can never understand why people always, ALWAYS blare their music. It's ridiculous, you can't hear anything, you can't tell different sounds apart; what's the point of listening to music in the first place? People can't seem to appreciate quality music anymore.

and hey, lets certainly not forget the unbelievable songs by george clinton and parliment/funkedilec, the whole reason dr.dre even exists.it wasnt as noticeable as a zeppelin track, there use of eq's and dynamics are astounding for that time.

I think most people don't notice the sound of music then and now...Unless they have an apprecaition for older music such on viynls or 8 tracks...I like the sound quality on viynls alot more than hearing reissues on cds. Most of the beatles, chicago, the animals, etc all sound better original press then the cds they have. Maybe its because you hear the rawness of the album instead of the cleaned up versions of today. But in general you'd have to have been exposed to old school music to really understand the difference.

now this is serious compression but you still have to know what your doing. This video tripped my head out how it changes how you can use compession and still get the big sound.http://proaudiomatrix.com/the-new-tonelux-txc-compressor-tutorial/

this article to me is seriously useless. It's not even remotely interesting. Music is louder. Who cares? Why is it getting so many diggs? It seems anything that bashes the recording industry immediately goes to the top of the music section.

Your possible not listen to the right records. I am discovering new music everyday, which has beautiful production, far superior and delicate than that of the past. There is, I will agree, poorly produced pop albums, but they are primarily produced for radio play, not so much for a dynamic and interesting musical experience.

The music industry has changed so much in the past five years that traditional music producing is no longer acceptable. The rules are different and unless performers and producers realize this they will be left in the dust. Online radio has already changed the face of music. If you are interested in a career in online radio check out the Radio Connection. They match you with a mentor which specializes in your area of interest, whether is is electronica, Djing, hip hop, or talk radio. http://www.radioconnection.com for more info !
